"Chicken on the roof" is code for a dead chicken. The chickens are actually fine, don't worry! We've had a lot of fun playing tricks on each other today. This one is for you, Beth!
I've been in the chicken rescue business for more than ten years now, and I don't have ten mice to deal with, I have about 200 roof rats!!!
The good news: I have found a way to get rid of them, over time, by
1., emptying out all feeders before nightfall in areas where either the chickens will finish the food or the rats will have to come out in the open and expose themselves to predators to eat it, and
2., feeding them a delicious corn-and-peanut-butter-based herbal contraceptive, which reduces their litters from 10 to four babies (every two months!) thereby taking them down to zero after about two years.
Give the rodents a break, guys. They are just ordinary folks like us, trying to raise a family.
Eek a mouse! You guys are novices.
